HIV Testing

On-site Testing

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention recommends that all people between the ages of 13 and 65 be tested for HIV on an annual basis. the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS hosts free, rapid HIV antibody counseling and testing every weekday.

The office is located at 1144 E. McDowell Rd., Suite 200, Phoenix 85006 (View Map). Currently, our hours are as follows * :

  • Monday: 5 – 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Thursday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

A specialist from our agency will also offer testing every Wednesday form 5 - 9 p.m. at the Chute - a private men's health club established in 1994. Counseling and testing services will also be offered by an agency specialist at other community venues as well including the First United Methodist Church of Tempe and college campuses. Testing is confidential and results are available in ten to twenty minutes. The mechanism for testing requires a small blood sample from your fingertip. This test is highly accurate, and we will provide confirmatory testing in the instance that you are positive.

Targeted HIV Testing

In addition to our on-site services, the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS provides rapid HIV Antibody counseling and testing in outside venues. This testing targets men who have sex with men, injection drug users, and women in high-risk environments.
